What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It means making your site appear closer to the top of organic (free) web search results so that more potential customers find your site through Google and other search engines.
Think about it. When you search for something on Google, are you more likely to click the links at the top of the page, or further down? Or worse yet, on the second or third page?
Simple enough, but here's the tricky part: Google's algorithm looks at hundreds of factors to determine the position of every page that you see in the results of a Google search, so SEO can be confusing and bewildering at first glance. So here let's just get our feet wet with a few basic facts about SEO. To dive in deep and learn more, see the links at the bottom of this page.
SEO is largely invisible
After you install SEO Optimizer and let it do its job of improving your site's SEO, you'll notice that your site still looks the same. That's because a lot of SEO does not appear anywhere on your site in a way that you can see it. Instead, SEO is largely based on code in the background of your site. Google and other search engines "crawl" the web, and these web crawlers look at the invisible SEO code as well as the visible content of your pages in order to give your pages a certain rank in web searches. So the better your SEO code is (and the better your content lines up with your SEO code, which our app also helps you do), the more likely you are to be highly ranked and appear closer to the top in web searches.

There are two types of SEO
There is on-page SEO and off-page SEO.
On-page SEO involves checking all of the boxes in SEO best practices. This is where SEO Optimizer comes in. We take care of all of your on-page SEO needs in just a few clicks.
Off-page SEO is the second half of the equation. This involves building backlinks: making sure other sites link to pages in your Shopify store. SEO Optimizer does not handle this type of SEO. We first created this app out of the frustration we had with an SEO consultant a couple of years ago.
